Scopus makes millions of open access articles easily discoverable

With Elsevier’s recent partnership with Impactstory, a nonprofit that creates online tools to make science more open and reusable, researchers are now able to discover millions of peer-reviewed open access (OA) articles with ease.

More ways to discover content from open access journals in Scopus

In July of last year, Scopus launched an open access (OA) indicator to make it easier for users to identify OA journals (click here to read more about Scopus and open access). In the initial release the indicator appeared on the 'Browse sources' and 'Journal details' pages.

Three ways to search for open access journals in Scopus

On July 29, 2015 Scopus launched an open access (OA) indicator for journals indexed in Scopus. The indicator allows users to easily identify open access journals within Scopus via the ‘Browse Sources’ link. This link provides an alphabetical list of all journals, book series, trade publications and conference proceedings available in Scopus.

How to search for open access journals in Scopus:

Navigate to the ‘Browse Sources’ tab in Scopus and choose from the following options to search for open

On July 29, Scopus will launch an Open Access indicator for journals indexed in Scopus. This indicator will allow users to easily identify Open Access journals within Scopus via the ‘Browse Sources’ link. This week is Open Access Week 2014, a global event that gives the academic and research community an opportunity to learn more about Open Access. We thought it was worth noting that out of the  21,000+ journals indexed by Scopus, 2,800 are gold open access journals (DOAJ-registered). You can view these titles in the publicly-available Scopus title list.

Moreover, Scopus features other “open” features like our open author profiles – just google “free author lookup” to access them:
