Sustainable Development Goals now on Scopus Author Profiles
The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are specific research areas that are helping to solve real-world problems. They are part of a plan to end poverty, protect the planet, and improve the lives and prospects of everyone by 2030.
SDGs have been available on Scopus Document Details pages starting from 2021, and also recently introduced on Scopus Organizational pages.
Elsevier’s SDG Classification:
- SDGs are mapped to a document by matching terms from a Scopus record against search queries, plus a predictive machine learning element, for each SDG
- The inputs are Title, Abstract, Author-Keywords, Indexed-Terms, and Subject-Areas
- The input language is limited to text in the English
- An article can have none or many classifications associated with it
SDGs have been added on the author profile pages and appear under the rebranded “Impact” section (formerly known as “Author Metrics). More than 10 million author profiles feature at least one SDG on Scopus.com.
Thanks to the introduction of SDGs on Scopus author profiles, it is now possible to:
- track and showcase individual researcher contributions to SDGs
- quickly access relevant author’s documents grouped under each SDG
- assess authors’ societal contributions and impact
- learn more about each SDG
