2023 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) now available on Scopus
Scopus has released the 2023 United Nation Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on the Scopus Document details page.
SDGs are specific research areas that challenge the global community to build a world where no one is left behind. Elsevier data science teams have built extensive keyword queries, supplemented with machine learning, to map documents to SDGs with very high precision.
The most notable update to the 2023 SDG classification is the inclusion of SDG17, "Partnerships for the goals." The 2023 SDGs use the same search query and machine learning algorithm as the Elsevier 2022 SDG mappings, with minor modifications to five SDGs, namely SDG 1, 4, 5, 7 and 14. Listing the relevant SDGs on the Scopus Document details page makes it easier to understand their relationship to a research publication. The SDG labels can also provide a useful reference when applying for funding, by demonstrating that research is making a difference in a particular area. More than 25M Scopus records contributed to at least one SDG (have a 2023 SDG label).Times Higher Education (THE) are using the Elsevier SDG data mapping as part of their Impact Rankings.
