In 2024, Scopus Organization Profiles got a new look and feel with a redesign. In addition to its better performance and user-centric design, the profiles also offer more data on an organization’s societal impact. With this blog we help you discover the power of organization profiles on Scopus.com! Learn what they are and how they can help your organization.

What are Scopus organization profiles and how are they created?

Scopus Organization Profiles are complete records of organizations publications indexed in Scopus.

  • They are built using algorithmic processing and Elsevier's curated database of organizations (OrgDB)
  •
  • The OrgDB record for an organization includes names, addresses, relationships with other organizations and various ways they are mentioned by authors in scholarly publications
  • The algorithms work in conjunction with OrgDB to identify the documents that can be attributed to your organization.

Once the algorithm is confident it has a document published by your organization, it assigns it to your organization profile.

Your Scopus Organization Profile has a comprehensive view of your organization's scholarly output, including author and document counts and related visualizations. You can sort and filter the data in various ways via your organization's profile page.

For example, you can:

  • View document output by subject area
  • View organization structure
  • View collaborating organizations
  • View documents by source
  • View documents from your organization that contribute to UN Sustainable Development Goals

What more can I do with my Organization Profile?

  • With your Organization Profile, you can equip your teams with trusted data for internal assessments, analyze your organization’s impact and inform strategic decision making with an expertise- and data-driven view of your organization’s research activities.
  • Track organizational impact with data trusted by global ranking and assessment bodies
  • Help track organizational impact on society using the UN Sustainable Development Goal data
  • Feed internal and external reporting against organizations, local and regional KPIs around research performance
  • Perform light touch analysis to inform strategic planning exercises

Scopus uses state-of-the-art technology coupled with comprehensive manually curated knowledge bases to profile authors and organizations. As a result, Scopus can help you understand who is researching what and where with greater accuracy than any other database, providing invaluable data for strategic decision-making.
